I think I have read 90% of decluttering/organizing books on the market. Organizing is something I have always been able to do. Decluttering, not so much. (Okay, not at all.) However, this book has what it takes to motivate me to declutter. Perhaps the timing is just right; when the student is ready, the teacher will appear, so it is said. But I really think it’s more than that. Claire makes it clear that you don’t have to become a minimalist in the process. She has nailed it when it comes to how sentimental people think. This is an awesome book that has motivated me beyond my own belief. I started decluttering for the first time ever halfway through the book! Love it!! I took it as permission to experience hate for my extreme hoarder mother who left me a dense, incredible hoard when she died. Pieces of singing plastic crap are intermingled with family Bibles & diplomas. Been working for a year and a half and flippers still say "There is so much stuff to be removed." Makes me want to cry because I've already removed 3/4 of the junk. The secret us to get a picture of something that feels important to make it easier to toss it out.
